Our winter weather, as we all know,
Is unpredictable from day to day.
Even changeable from hour to hour,
Winter keeps us guessing, here in the Bay.
Windy and cold when temperatures fall,
Temperatures rise, it’s wet and warm.
Sneakers and boots side by side in the hall,
For tomorrow may bring a nor’easter storm.
There’s noisy hail and freezing rain,
Wind that blows and gusts and whines.
Jack Frost paints our window panes,
Hoarfrost on trees that sparkles and shines.
Snow floats and blows and drifts around.
Swirls, sculptures, hides and buries
Our trees and lawns, our cars and roads
In quiet, calming, peaceful flurries.
But peaceful snow means travel woes!
Shovelling, snowploughs, sliding, slipping,
Snowbanks too high to see around.
Children off school, then snowsuits dripping.
Do not lose hope, do not despair,
For we all know, from day to day,
We have only to patiently wait it out;
Weather’s predictably changeable in our Bay!
