I pull in the long drive,
Away from the rat race.
Don’t know what it is,
Something ’bout this place.
I walk through the door,
Karma slows down my pace.
I’ve been here before,
Something ’bout this place.
Dancing in the kitchen,
Not a care on my face.
Ghosts rest in the corner,
Something ’bout this place.
My dog feels it too,
As she settles on the floor.
The world has slowed down,
As we walk through the door.
Gaze out the window,
Time will erase…
Just quiet and breathe,
Something ’bout this place.
Biscuits in the oven,
Tea steeped to pour.
Bench sits on the cliff,
As I gaze at the shore.
Fire crackles so warm,
Grey stone, open grate,
Warm, old plaid throw,
A book, cup, and fate.
Waves roar on the beach,
Seagulls fly in space,
Swoop and soar above,
Something ’bout this place.
Creaky, oak stairs,
The old patina shines.
This house doesn’t care,
Protecting what’s mine…
Simple, comfortable needs,
Candlelight on my face.
With a smile, settle in,
Something ’bout this place!
